ELQ Investments

Sectoral Focus

ELQ Investments directs its efforts toward five core pillars of transformation. Each represents a strategic pathway to rebuild Ukraine’s energy system, accelerate decarbonization, and ensure long-term resilience in line with European standards.

Natural Gas
Generation & Exploration

Natural gas is a vital transitional resource in Ukraine’s energy recovery. High-efficiency Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants provide reliable electricity and heat for communities, industry, and critical infrastructure, while domestic extraction projects reinforce energy sovereignty and reduce import dependency.

As renewable capacity grows, natural gas ensures grid stability, balances demand, and maintains continuity during peak loads. Integrated with modern technologies and efficiency measures, it delivers short-term resilience while supporting the transition toward a low-carbon, diversified energy system aligned with European standards.

Renewable Energy Solutions

Ukraine possesses some of the most favorable conditions in Europe for renewable energy generation. Expanding solar and wind capacity, together with the deployment of advanced bioenergy systems, provides a sustainable foundation for energy independence. These solutions not only replace lost generation capacity but also diversify the energy mix, enhance security of supply, and create new opportunities for local and regional development. Grid-connected and off-grid solutions ensure flexibility, enabling both large-scale projects and localized, community-driven initiatives.

Grid Stability & Energy Storage

A modernized energy system requires resilience and flexibility. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid storage technologies provide the ability to stabilize the grid, absorb fluctuations, and balance demand in real time. Smart grids and decentralized microgrids further strengthen operational flexibility, reduce vulnerability to physical or cyber threats, and allow rapid reconnection of critical facilities after disruptions. These solutions are the backbone of a secure and adaptive energy ecosystem.

Transitional Energy & Efficiency

While renewables are the long-term solution, transitional energy sources play a critical role in stabilizing the system during recovery. High-efficiency Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants fueled by natural gas, advanced thermal energy systems, and industrial energy-efficiency technologies provide immediate reliability and ensure stable supply during peak demand. By reducing waste and optimizing energy use across municipal and industrial sectors, efficiency measures lower costs, decrease emissions, and accelerate the transition toward a fully decarbonized system.

Nuclear Innovation

Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and advanced nuclear technologies represent a vital component of Ukraine’s future energy mix. Feasibility studies, regulatory frameworks, and localization strategies are essential to prepare the ground for their safe and responsible deployment. Nuclear innovation provides reliable baseload power, complements renewable sources, and supports long-term integration with European energy networks. With proper governance and international partnerships, nuclear energy can reinforce resilience while meeting the highest global safety and environmental standards.

District Heating
& Thermal Infrastructure

Ukraine’s extensive district heating networks, many of which remain outdated, present both a challenge and an opportunity. Modernizing thermal power plants, decarbonizing heating systems, and integrating renewable sources and waste heat recovery will reduce emissions and improve efficiency. Expanding low-carbon heating networks ensures reliable energy access for millions of citizens, while at the same time creating measurable social benefits such as improved quality of life, cleaner urban environments, and lower costs for households and municipalities.
